Hi and welcome to my moving house blog! This is going to be an on-line diary of my upcoming house move. We are relocating from one city to another across country – that me, my hubbie, the 3 kids, 2 dogs and the cat!
Its going to be quite a move – and Im not really looking foreward to all the organising and managing that I am going tohave to do. So rather than start going through the dark recesses of my closet I thought I would start a blog instead that would make sense surely! Well my friend had been on at me for ages to get me a blog at WordPress – what with it being free and all.
I’ve tried starting blogs before – but my day to day life is far too boring for anyone to actually want to read it -including me ! Instead I thought I might make this blog into something useful – something that other mother’s needing to move a family across the country might actually use. I don’t know about you but I have checked all the usual removal companies websites and they really aren’t that useful. So I thought I would try to gather all the useful information I come accross as I figure out how to move all of us across the country.
But first the background – why do we have to move house anyway? Well its all his fault really – and the current economic crises. J, my husband of 10 years has taken a job across country – unfortunately its not a great relocation package – but it is a great promotion for him so we are upending the entire family in search of some financial security and a career path for him. Me, I’m a elementary school teacher but with 3 kids under 10 I’ve been a stay-at-home mom for the last few years. The kids are boy(8), girl twins (5) – what do they think about moving house and state – well to be honest – we haven’t told them yet does that make me a bad mom do you think?
We have a great house in a comfortable house in a nice area – we have quite a large yard which explains the other members of the family Sissy and Max the Labradoodles and Bob the grumpy old tom cat. Not quite sure how tom – who is 10 year’s old will handle moving from the only home he’s ever known. Sissy and Max will fine so long as they have the kids and Bob to boss around.
Don’t know if we will stay in the new town -all our family and friendsare local so at this stage we will keep our house and rent in the new town. Hoping to rent out our home to cover expenses -but whole knows in these economic times whether anyone will want to pay the rent of 5×2?
Moving house is going to be a whole new adventure for this family – I think I am looking foreward to it but the amount of work is just plain scary. I don’t know where to start -do find schools in the new town first, start calling moving companies, try to find a house to rent in our new town – just where does a person start? We haven’t even decided whether we will drive or get the cars relocated as well! It would be great road trip across the country – and the dogs would love it – but the cat certainly wouldn’t, the kids would be OK with their gameboys though
